To make a natural mold removal solution, blend thirty drops of an anti-fungal essential oil with sixteen ounces of water in a plastic spray bottle. Shake this mixture well. Spray on mold. There is no need to wipe off, in fact, it is better to leave this solution on. The most potential of all essential oils is the tea tree oil. Vinegar is also a very effective alternative. It is readily available in the household and it does not cost too much money. It is good for the environment and for you. Vinegar can be used at higher strengths because it will not give you any headaches. It will not harm you, your pets or your children. With it, mold cleaning can be inexpensively done yielding benefits for both you and your family's health and even preserving the environment. Protect your hands from. Even though vinegar is not a toxic product, it can still irritate your skin. Wear gloves before starting the cleanup process. This also helps prevent getting the sour, vinegar smell on your hands.
Using Chemicals to Remove Mold and Mildew
Although natural ingredients are far better because they do not cause harm to a person’s health, most people opt to use chemicals or mold and mildew remover that are readily available at most stores. The least expensive solution to molds is bleach. All you need to do would be to mix one part of chlorine bleach diluted with 3 parts of water. Allow the mixture to remain on the surface for ten to fifteen minutes, agitate with a soft brush, rise with water and allow to dry.
Another option would be to buy store bought solutions such as Tilex, X-14 or Lysol. Look for EPA registered spray disinfectant. Before applying the solution, make sure to test an inconspicuous area for colorfastness. Take note also that there are certain stains which are permanent. When cleaning, make sure that you cover all items which you do not want bleach stains on. Do not mix bleach and vinegar together because that makes a fatal gas. You can use either of the two, but not both.
