The Shihtzu is one of the most popular breeds of dogs today. There are lots of shihtzu puppies for sale in pet shops. If you look at shihtzu puppies’ pictures or at the actual thing, you’ll see how cute they look. The Shihtzu is a breed of small but very ancient dog type, with long silky fur. The breed originated from China. The Shihtzu is a small dog, usually 8 to 11 inches in height and 9 to 16 pounds in weight. It has large, dark eyes, with a soft, long double coat.

Drop ears are covered with long fur, and the heavily furred tail is carried curled over the back. The Shihtzu’s coat may be of any color, although a blaze of white on the forehead and tail-tips is frequently seen.  The long, silky and glossy coat requires daily brushing to avoid dangles. Most often people use puppy clips to keep the coat in place.

It is a must to trim fur along the feet and anus for hygiene. Just like any breed, the puppies also require a puppy pen and puppy pads. Shihtzus are very popular with people. This is mostly because this type of dog love to be with people and they love to be around people. These dogs need to be around people and they often become destructive and cranky if left alone for long periods of time. Shihtzus are sweet and calm by temperament and they go along with anybody, be it humans or fellow animals. However, it is not advisable to leave dogs with small children for safety purposes.

How To Cake For Shihtzus

As mentioned earlier Shihtzu puppies and dogs need a lot of grooming because they have two coats of hair, one short undercoat and one sweeping long coat. Daily combing is a must to keep the hair in tip-top shape and to keep it from tangling and matting. Regular bathing is also needed because these dogs easily get sick if exposed to high humidity content in the air. Their teeth need special attention since they have a tendency of falling once the dog reaches middle age, which is 9 years old and onwards. They are prone to obesity and must not be overfed. Their short, flat face interferes with their breathing and they often found snoring loudly and breathing with a wheezing sound. They also tend to behave like spoiled brats easily when given too much attention. Shihtzus are generally stubborn and can be difficult to train. It takes a lot of patience and perseverance to get them to do what you want. They learn in only one way, and that is through positive reinforcement. Harshness will have no effect on them. Much like Havanese puppies, they are excitable and they often easily get distracted.

These dogs shed less compared to others and are appropriate for people who have allergies but still love dogs. Maltese shihtzu puppies are adorable, sweet little creatures which often like to play with children.

2. Shihtzu Bichon. This is one of the most popular mixed breeds. Puppies have a small size which makes it suitable for city dwellers and just like the Shihtzu Maltese puppies it sheds very little, which is a blessing for people suffering from asthma. The breed is a cross between the Bichon Frise which is a French lapdog, and the Shihtzu. The dog gets its flat face from the Shihtzu and its fluffy coat from the Bichon Frise. Shihtzu bichon puppies are excellent subjects for photography and for their light-colored coats it is best to use a black or dark backdrop.
